Experimentation We test ideas, learn quickly, and refine through iteration to develop better solutions.
Our products are informed by real-world challenges presented to us by industry leaders. We have always invited companies to bring us their toughest transport and material handling problems—and we respond with systems designed to perform: durable, versatile, and cost-effective by design.
From the start, we recognized where traditional, limited-use packaging fell short, and where reusable systems could deliver greater long-term value. That understanding has kept us at the forefront of developing practical, engineered solutions that hold up in real-world applications.
Shuert AdvantageOUR EFFORTS
We question assumptions, seek to understand, and explore new possibilities with an open mind—combining critical thinking with imagination to solve complex problems.
We solve problems together. Across our team of approximately 250 skilled production workers, engineers, support staff, and leaders, we recognize that the best ideas can come from anywhere. We make a point to know and learn from one another—because the strongest solutions are built collectively, not individually.
We treat customers, partners, and colleagues with empathy, respect, and a genuine commitment to doing what’s right. As a family-owned and operated business, we value relationships and take responsibility for how we show up—for each other and for those we serve.
We continuously test ideas, experiment, and challenge conventional thinking—because meaningful innovation requires action. Not every idea succeeds, but every iteration—good or bad—provides valuable insight.
We stay adaptable and step in where needed, taking ownership and rising to the occasion. We take the initiative to learn across roles and responsibilities—because understanding the full business makes us better problem solvers.
PROCESS PILLARS
Experimentation We test ideas, learn quickly, and refine through iteration to develop better solutions.
Open Problem Solving We address challenges directly and work through them together to move ideas forward.
Shared Ownership We take responsibility for outcomes across teams, stepping in to lend a hand wherever needed to move work forward.
Continuous Learning We learn through experience, from one another, and from different perspectives—strengthening our ability to invent and refine over time.
Since 1971, innovation has defined how we solve problems. The Shuert team holds 52 patents for original designs and technologies, and has engineered and tooled thousands of custom solutions—each developed through close collaboration with industry leaders and grounded in real-world material handling challenges.
We began as a small tooling business, working closely with companies like Jerad Products, Cadillac Products, and Oakland Plastics. From the start, we focused on solving the problems others could not—developing practical solutions through hands-on collaboration that would become the foundation of how we operate.
As we worked alongside our customers, we recognized the limitations of the manufacturing technologies behind existing material handling systems—and the opportunity to improve them. To overcome them, we expanded into manufacturing—embracing twin-sheet thermoforming and helping develop early sequentially fed processes that enabled stronger, more efficient designs.
When the industry needed a more efficient shipping container, Shuert invented one: the Uni-Pak. A first-of-its-kind design, it combined a twin-sheet thermoformed pallet and top with a heavy-duty corrugated sleeve, secured by our patented slide-lock mechanism. The result was a durable, reusable alternative to traditional, limited-life packaging systems.
As demand grew from high-volume users like the U.S. Postal Service and the grocery industry, we rethought how these systems were made. Our proprietary in-line process combines extrusion, thermoforming, trimming, and assembly into a single continuous operation—delivering the consistency, speed, and scale required for widespread adoption.
We took pallet performance further with the development of the rackable Uni-Pallet. Featuring a proprietary anti-skid surface and enabled by a high-output manufacturing process—producing [X units] with a cycle time of [X seconds]—it delivered consistent, repeatable performance at scale, setting the foundation for widespread adoption of reusable material handling systems.
As reusable systems became more widely adopted, our solutions expanded into global markets. The rackable Uni-Pallet saw widespread use across Scandinavia, where today it supports a significant share of food distribution—demonstrating the long-term value and reliability of systems built to perform.
